A FRIEND WHO STICKS CLOSER THAN A BROTHER.

A man of many companions will come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

I this modern era of technology, people pride themselves in the number of friends in their social media circle. They feel good having a large number of followers they call friends but are these people really your friends? Will they come to your rescue in time of your real needs? You may have friends in real life but in your times challenging times, will they be by your side? Many people have been deserted by friends, families and so called loved one when they become poor or fall into diverse troubles. When they need a penny for food, they cannot find them; when they need money for rent, they cannot find them. These friends would rather find faults and accuse you of all kinds of things that are unbelievable. They would rather spread rumors about you than protect you. Some people surround themselves with many friends with the hope that they will come to their aid anytime they need them. They will attend as many functions and parties as possible to mingle with them and establish as many contacts as possible. But they get disappointed when these same friends do not return the same favor as they have done. Some people even become depressed and dejected.

Job in the Book of Jobs in the bible had friends when everything was going on well with him. He was a very wealthy man, but when he was struck with poverty, these same friends deserted him. They laughed at him and made mockery of him and the God he served. But Job did not give trusting in God until God restored all his lost fortune several folds.

Joseph, the son of Jacob, thought he had good brothers and friends in jail but they all disappointed him. While he was in prison, he interpreted dreams that came true for his fellow prisoners but when one of them was released and made a captain in Pharoah's palace, this fellow did not remember him. He was left languishing in jail until later when he was discovered. Friends can forget about you at any time in your life.

Today, I want to present to you a friend; a friend who will be with you at all times and will never let you down. A friend who will die for you in your good and bad times. A friend who will fight your battles for you and cause you to be a victor. A friend who does not look at your status in live to love you. A friend who love you just as you are.  This friend is JESUS CHRIST, THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD! Make him your friend and you will not regret in your life. He is that " friend who sticks closer than a brother."

EMPOWERED TO DO GOD'S WORK

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me; To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted; To proclaim liberty to the captives; And recovery of sight to the blind; To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”Luke 4:18-19(NKJV)

Everyday, we need to pray for the in-filling of the Holy Spirit, our helper. Without the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we will not be bold to do the work of the Lord and to face opposition and persecutions. Jesus had a mission on this earth that he had to complete in His short time on the earth. His mission was clearly stated in the verse for the day. He came to preach the good news, to heal the brokenhearted and the sick, to set the oppressed free from their sins and demonic influences. He was able to do all these things through the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

We have been called to the same mission and we need the power of the Holy Spirit to energize us to be able to fulfill them. May the Lord anoint you today as you diligently seek to please Him in every way and to do His work. Without the Holy Spirit's empowerment, you can do nothing!
