JESUS THE TRUE AND PERFECT MAN

In what ways did Jesus demonstrate true masculinity?

  • It was in His courage to face his call
  • His determination to finish His assignment on earth (John 17:4).                                                " I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do."
  • His love and commitment to his family and friends.
  • His resolve to do His Father’s will.
  • Being a provider and a caretaker
  • Feeding the hungry (Matt 14:13-21)                                                                                "13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.” Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children."

  • Healing the sick (Matthew 9:20-22; Matthew 9:35; Mark. 2:9-12, Luke. 17:12-16;               John. 9:6-7).

Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.  She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment. Matthew 9:20-22 (NIV)

"Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’?  But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man,  “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”  He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!” Mark 2:9-12 (NIV)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                "As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance  and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Luke 17:12-16 (NIV)
  • He was an honest member of the community, making sure his taxes were paid (Matthew 17:24-27).
  • He was very effective in His dealings and as a leader
  • He was able to commit the task of reaching souls to his disciples.
  • He was not selfish, but emptied himself for us.
  • He had impeccable integrity.
  •  Jesus has been indeed a true and perfect man and He requires us to walk in His steps. 1 John 2:6
